Scotland Day 8

Kyle of Lochalsh : Armadale : Tarskavaig (Dun Scaith Castle) : Cill Chriosd ruins : Elgol : Sligachan : Kyle of Lochalsh

Yet another cold, windy, overcast day, until the end.  Armadale was attractive, but a small woodland walk there was a disppointment.  It had been created to seem like fairy grottoes with roped off paths and lots of signs about what to do (or not do).  Only at the end as it came out onto a rocky coastal spot was there anything of interest.
The long walk out to Dun Scaith Castle was worth the effort - more for the views than the castle itself, though.  Even the view looking back to the car!  A lovely spot.

The road out to Elgol provided some amusement.  I parked next to a mini-bus at the layby for the Cill Chriosd ruins.  What appeared like an endless stream of colourful American lady tourists emerged and fanned out all over the area of the ruins.  They seemed to disappear as quickly as they had arrived, but were a pleasant, friendly bunch!

The visit to Elgol was well worth the long drive.  The views of the Cuillin from the rocky shore were wonderfully sombre.

A similarly long drive to Sligachan gave a view of the Cuillin from another direction.
