The ascent of Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, to complement the ascent of Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.
Day in Moscow.
Internal flight to Mineralnye Vody, then by road to Terskol.
Altitude acclimatisation climb up Gumachi (3805m) with views into Georgia and of Elbrus.
Trek across the Syltran Pass (3300m).
To Priut 11, a mountain refuge.
Acclimatisation walk to Pastukhova Rocks.
Ascent of Elbrus (5624m) - poor visibility and bitter cold - only at the summit were photographs taken.
Internal flight from Mineralnye Vody to St.Petersburg for a day before flying home.
