Mixed Cricket

The afternoon started with rain and the start of the match was delayed until 3.00pm - a good move as there was no further rain.  The thirty over match gave me time to see Dumbleton fielding before I left for home - Dumbleton went on to win by five wickets.

Cheltenham 7s Festival

The first Festival was in 2021.  This year's version was, I gather, even bigger.  Besides the rugby there was netball, food stalls, fair ground rides, bars and live music.  The music festival aspect was mainly on the Friday and Saturday evenings, although there was music through most of the Saturday too.  My invitation was to photograph the rugby matches on the Artificial Grass Pitch, but there were other matches on an adjacent and rather dry grass pitch.  In the gaps between games I wandered around the site to take photographs, but my main focus during the gaps was to catch the netball.

The netball was played on two courts, but only one was reasonably open enough to get pictures.  This was a new sport as far as my photography was concerned and it was good fun trying to catch the action.

Cotswold Walk

Pictures taken on a walk from home - along the Cotswold Way and through the Sudeley grounds.  Plus a cake and coffee stop at the Old Surgery on the way home.

Men's Cricket

Another very hot day.  There were regular drinks intervals for the players.  Very harsh light created very harsh shadows and the white kit was in danger of being completely burnt out.

Dumbleton Men's 1st XI beat Rockhampton by 179 runs

5-a-Side Football Tournament

Winchcombe Town Ladies Football Club organised a full day of football.  At times there were three games on at the same time.  The weather was hot - there were lots of very hot looking payers, but everyone had a good time anyway.  Harsh light and harsh shadows and very different lighting as I switched from facing north to facing south.  The result, for me, was a huge batch of pictures to go through.

They reached the knock-out stage and were then knocked out by the eventual winners.  As a near neighbour of the club's home games and recognising familiar faces from having photographed quite a few of their home games, I took more pictures of them and their 'magpie' kit than most other teams.

Men's Cricket

Dumbleton played Milford Hall in the VKO - Village KnockOut - competition.  It was a bit one-sided.  As a departure from the norm, I opted to produce the pictures in monochrome.

Dumbleton beat Milford Hall by 7 wickets

Dumbleton Men's 1st XI 143 for 3 (23 overs) - Milford Hall 140 all out (33.3 overs)
